Victor Hugo Pontes
From nature to human societies and theatre: this is the guiding principle of Zoo. What are the issues associated to a zoo and how are they reproduced in a performance? There is an observation point, an artificial/scenographic environment, a staging, a focus of attention and several agents. The exhibition of a product - cultural or animal, the difference matters - is based on the relevance of that product. People are interested in watching other people, animals, performances, the world through their windows or on a stage. Zoo reflects on this process as an aesthetic experience. Berger says that “the aesthetic moment offers hope”, a key factor for world order. The paradox in Zoo is the necessary artificiality of such world.
