From a contemporary reinterpretation of Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare's classic about love and its limits, Victor Hugo Pontes builds a work where words and movement merge, in his unique choreographic language. How to talk about a love that was wanted and believed infinite, but ended up in a tragedy for its protagonists? What are the perspectives of the others involved in the plot - since this love contaminated everyone around it with a reactive wave that led to the terrible outcome? We already know the end of this work. But, will we know how to tell it from the beginning? A show about ways of telling a story that has already been heard a thousand times, and about loving and saying 'forever', or because it is infinite, at the end of a sentence that describes how much we love and will continue to love. Verb, by the way, difficult to define, this one of 'to love'. “Love?, what exactly is that?”, asks one of the people with whom we spoke about all this; while another respondent replies, “I know all about love, really.” Doubts and certainties, and adolescence as a backdrop, a time of excesses, and long dawns, in which love – but also death – is invited to enter the rooms of those who discover these turmoils of feelings for the first time. Porque é infinito is a text written by Joana Craveiro based on documental, affective, and poetic research, which places William Shakespeare's canonical text in the present day and looks at it from here, in what is also a reflection on the language used to say and verbalize all this.
