Victor Hugo Pontes
Choreographer Victor Hugo Pontes, from whom we premiered Zoo a year ago - a dance show that turned the theater into a zoo - now stages a battle of life and death between two lost and entrenched beings, who reveal an absolute, almost animal need to triumph over the other. Maria do Céu Ribeiro and Pedro Frias give body and voice to the art of Rémi De Vos' dialog, mechanics of implacable precision from which laughter is not absent. A descent into the hell of a man who is slowly sliding towards extremism, Ocidente offers Victor Hugo Pontes an opportunity to focus on his work as an actor and invest in research into the word and its - often disturbing - emotional power.
