Victor Hugo Pontes
Cair is a new dance project by Victor Hugo Pontes, which follows on from the show Fall, which will premiere in November of this year, in which he will work from four fundamental ideas, with varying degrees of depth: falling out of love; the biblical fall; the approach, in autumn, of the end of a cycle in nature; the movement of the physical fall. These are transversal moments in the human journey, which Victor Hugo Pontes intends to replicate symbolically in Fall.
In Fall, some of these issues will be addressed, but by thinking about them and directing them towards its target audience: children and young people. The focus will naturally be on the movement of the physical fall, because from here it is possible to explore concrete topics, through mimetic and illustrative means, and abstract topics, through metaphorical means. We all fall, whether it's because we've tripped, because we've been pushed, because we've lost our strength or consciousness. As children, we start by crawling, glued to the ground until we can get up and walk. This learning process is a real lesson in courage, perseverance and the search for another vision of the world and of life. The perspective we have of the world when we are standing upright is very different. When we crawl, we see the ground and more ground. When we stand up, we can see what's above the ground and loose in space. Of course, during this learning process we often fall and then get up again. The truth is that we wouldn't learn to walk if we didn't have the courage to get up every time we fell, as if as babies we already understood one of the most beautiful points of Plato's philosophy: “If you fall seven times, get up eight.” Cair has the same creative team as Fall and will be performed by two dancers. Cair's scenic device will use scenic elements from Fall, and the two shows can be performed in the same theater, on the same day, at different times. Cair can also, of course, be performed independently of Fall, using only the scenographic elements necessary for its realization. Although the starting point for both shows is identical, the aim is to create two different shows, taking into account the different target audiences.
